Meet the
Team
Tony Gaster - Managing Director
Tony founded BTL in 1997 following the success of his first company,
Biopharma
Process Systems, a processing equipment supplier. Tony is a chemical engineer with
30 years in the process industries. Having previously worked as Sales
& Marketing Director for international freeze dryer manufacturer Usifroid,
Tony has international experience in freeze-drying which covers many parts
of the world. He is an equipment and engineering specialist.
Dr Kevin Ward - Director of R&D
Kevin joined BTL in March 2000, initially as laboratory manager. Now as
the Director of Research and Development, he is responsible for the day
to day running of the company. A graduate in Applied Chemistry, Kevin
received his Ph.D. for investigations into the freeze-drying of pharmaceutical
formulations and drug/vaccine delivery systems. Prior to joining BTL,
Kevin worked at Pfizer Central Research and as a Research Fellow in vaccine
development at Aston University.
Clare Ross- R&D Scientist
Clare joined BTL in March 2006 after working as a Microbiologist for a Local
Government Public Analyst Laboratory. Clare has worked in other laboratories
and completed an HNC in advanced Biology and Microbiology whilst working for
DEFRA. Clare’s main responsibilities include performing R&D studies, analytical
work, report preparation and quality assurance documentation.
Tom Peacock- R&D Scientist
Tom joined BTL in December 2006 after graduating from Southampton University with
a BSc in Oceanography. Tom will be also be involved in performing R&D studies, analytical
work and report preparation as well as handling enquiries and maintaining the company database.
Isobel Cook- Principal Research Scientist
Isobel joined BTL in January 2007 having worked as an Analytical Chemist in pharmaceutical method
development and environmental marine research. Isobel has a BSc in Environmental Chemistry and is
responsible for BTL's internal and joint research projects in freeze drying technology.
