Small Scale Batch Freeze Drying Services

BTL will freeze dry small batches of material on behalf of clients. This service provides for operating flexibility, perhaps providing extra capacity in your development operation or a fall back capability if your in-house freeze dryer cannot cope with a sudden need.

There are a number of benefits to contracting out your early stage freeze drying needs to BTL. Firstly in situations where the freeze drying process has been developed in house, contracting out freeze drying of the initial scale up batches provides an opportunity to tests the robustness of the process. You will also understand the future technology transfer requirements of that process.

In the unlikely event that there is a problem when you transfer a process out of house, you will be working with freeze drying process development experts. They will be able to work with you to identify and solve any problems that are encountered in the technology transfer. Our staff can also optimise the process to reduce the energy requirement and downstream production costs adding to the commercial value of your product.

BTL has a significant track record in freeze drying a wide range of materials successfully and can handle small molecules, nucleic acids, proteins, bacteria and biomaterials. The company is also able to provide the necessary containment for genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
